OCTOPUS X4 can be used for printing on rigid and flexible materials up to the 2050mm width and 40-50mm thickness. Movement of printed media is provided by boundless belt with a pressure roller. “The printer is equipped with four print heads XJ-500 (360 dpi). Complete control software and ripping software with color management for CMYK printing are developed in Grapo s.r.o. This printer is built from automation industry components, selected for high performance and endurance. The UV curable ink used in the Octopus printer is universal. This ink achieves excellent results on flexible materials (paper, banner, mesh, vinyl sheet, etc.) and it is good on upto 50mm thick solid materials (plastic, wood, metal, glass etc.) too. To improve the adhesion on materials like glass & acrylic, we offer pre-coating. Total control of printer is executed from built-in PC work- station with installed Windows XP. Control application drives output of UV bulbs and controls their temperature. Control application also gives information about print process, controls condition of nozzles and level of inks in tanks, and also offers alignment or media correction, including print of a control file. RIP used on this printer is developed by Grapo and is equipped with all standard functions like change of file size, rotation, cutting marks and tiling.
The machine is equipped with four XJ-500 (360 dpi) printheads. Each head has perfect temperature control system (which works according to information coming from printheads) and manifolds of ink with mechanical closure. Ink subtanks are equipped with float closure and underpressure connection. UV curing lamp with high output is air cooled. Cleaning of printhead is preformed by internal air pressure to subtanks. Printhead carriage is height-adjustable up to 50mm above print media. Refilling of ink is based on four large-capacity ink tanks. Metal design of tanks prevents contact of UV irradiation. Ink is transported by Teflon tube with minimal UV irradition penetrability from tanks to subtanks. Impurities of ink are caught by special filters. Underpressure for the printheads is provided by air ejector and one closed metal cylinder with regulating pipe. Feed of printing media is assured by neverending fabric belt, which is tightened on two rollers. Printing media is held by adjustable pressure roller in front part of the machine. Carriage is drawn by cogged belt. Both movements (X and Y axes) are driven by two digitally controlled motors with high output and accuracy rating. Machine electronics consists of three parts: Power part includes motor operation, UV bulb operation and cooling. This part is located in a metal box in the machine. Light current electrical engineering is built into a standard PC and controls data input to the printheads carriage. Electronics part located in the carriage includes power supply for carriage electronics and printheads. Carriage electronics controls accurate adjustment of temperature according to data from inner sensor of printhead.
